Western Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026: 5349 ITI Posts Announced, Apply Before 23 March
Western Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026 has been officially released by Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC WR) for 5349 Act Apprentice posts under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Eligible ITI candidates can apply online from 21 February 2026 to 23 March 2026. Selection will be based purely on merit prepared from the average of 10th and ITI marks. Candidates must carefully check division-wise vacancy distribution, eligibility criteria, reservation rules and application process before submitting the form.

| Trade-Wise Detailed Description (ट्रेड अनुसार विवरण) | |
| Fitter | Fitter trade apprentices will receive hands-on training in fitting, assembly, maintenance and repair of railway mechanical components. Work involves use of measuring tools, drilling machines, grinders and fabrication equipment under supervision of senior technicians. |
| Electrician | Electrician apprentices will be trained in electrical wiring, maintenance of railway electrical systems, lighting circuits, control panels and safety systems. Practical exposure includes troubleshooting of electrical faults in railway units. |
| Welder | Welder trade includes practical training in arc welding, gas welding and fabrication work related to railway coaches and wagons. Safety compliance and industrial welding standards will be emphasized. |
| Mechanic Diesel | Training includes maintenance and servicing of diesel engines used in railway operations. Apprentices will learn dismantling, inspection, fault diagnosis and reassembly procedures. |
| PASSA (COPA) | Computer Operator and Programming Assistant trade provides exposure to data entry, system management, basic programming and office automation tasks in railway administrative units. |
| Refrigeration & AC Mechanic | Apprentices will be trained in installation and maintenance of air-conditioning systems used in railway coaches and office buildings. |

| Merit List Preparation (मेरिट सूची तैयार करने की प्रक्रिया) | |
| • Merit list will be prepared trade-wise and division-wise. • Merit will be calculated on the basis of average percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (10th) and ITI examination. • Both 10th and ITI marks will be given equal weightage. • In case of tie in marks, older candidate (higher age) will be given preference. • If date of birth is also same, candidate who passed 10th earlier will be placed higher in merit. |

| Medical Standards (चिकित्सा मानक) | |
| Selected candidates must be medically fit as per Railway standards applicable to Apprentice training. Final engagement will be subject to medical fitness certification by authorized Railway medical officer. | |
| Reservation Policy (आरक्षण नीति) | |
| Reservation for SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories is applicable as per Government of India rules.
• 4% reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). |

| Training Terms & Conditions (प्रशिक्षण की शर्तें) | |
| • Apprenticeship training will be governed by the Apprentices Act, 1961. • Training period is one year. • Apprentices are not entitled to permanent employment after completion of training. • Stipend will be paid as per Railway Board norms. • Apprentices must maintain discipline and follow Railway rules during training period. |
